FiBL study – positive impact of Trichoderma on plant growth

In 2018, FibL tested the effect of Trichoderma atrobrunneum T-720 on the growth of rocket plants and peas, alone or in combination with a plant carbon preparation (sun soil activator), in pot trials with three substrates:

  • T-720 increased the amount of available phosphorus in the soil for the plants. This effect was observed above all in nutrient-poor soil.
  • Soil activator “Sonnenerde” caused an increase in the weight of rocket plants, especially at low fertilisation levels. In nutrient-poor soils, an additive effect of this effect was observed when applied in combination with T-720.
  • In peas, soil activator “Sonnenerde” showed a positive effect on plant weight only in nutrient-poor soil and at low fertilisation levels. T-720 also showed an additive effect there.
  • In a field trial in a hyssop crop, a reduced mortality of hyssop plants could be observed by applying T-720 in combination with the soil activator “Sonnenerde”.
