Trichoderma use in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff castle
Trichoderma has been used in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in a viola border since autumn 2020. For this purpose, 0.2 ml/m2 Trichoderma is applied twice a year, in March and in autumn (1 L product per 1 ha at a water application rate of 400 L). The spore count is 109 CFU/ml. The aim of this treatment is to reduce the fungal infestation by Phytophthora (stem base rot) and to delay the spread of the fungal disease so far that the violas do not show a strong visual infestation before the new planting of the border is due.
The first available observations confirm the desired success: the infestation could be visibly reduced. At the same time the fungal infestation took place at its later stage, so that the border could remain without major visible restrictions until the replanting.
Since the beginning of 2022, our Trichoderma strain has been used in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle (with the same number of spores) and the treatments and observations will be continued and noted.
Trichoderma use on the lawns of Merano thermal baths
Trichoderma has already been used regularly on the lawns of Merano thermal baths since 2018. Trichoderma is applied in liquid form three to four times a year (with a spore count of 109 CFU/ml). It could be observed that since the treatment, the infestation of lawn fungi has decreased over time. In the meantime there is hardly any visible infestation on the lawn. An exception are rust fungi, which still appear in late autumn.
Treatments and observations continue to be carried out and noted.
