In a research project at the Laimburg Research Centre, the influence of three biological products (Neem, Multikraft and Avengelus) on the growth and health of various balcony plants was investigated during a growing season in 2024. The focus was on popular balcony plant species such as Mandevilla /Syn. Dipladenia Cv., Lantana camara, Pelargonium zonale, Calibrachoa Cv., Verbena Cv. and Petunia Hybrida Vista, which were selected for their susceptibility to certain diseases. A total of 180 plants were cultivated in planters on experimental balconies and the number of flowers, height and weight were analysed.
Our Trichoderma strain was applied in both granular and liquid form.
The results were varied:
- Flower numbers were sometimes higher in Calibrachoa and Lantana plants with Trichoderma than in the untreated control group.
- The growth effects were plant-dependent, with some such as Calibrachoa and Lantana benefiting more from Trichoderma than others such as Petunia.
